About me

After moving to Cornwall in 1991 and bringing up a family of 3 beautiful children, a black Labrador and a tabby cat I blinked and found myself suddenly in my 50's and struggling with chronic illness. A diagnosis of fibromyalgia in 2018 brought some understanding and peace and I learned to live with this debilitating condition, along with other chronic health conditions. Fast forward to the here and now and I have discovered my inner artist (I think I always knew she was there but throughout my life, circumstances dictated she stayed locked away, no time, no freedom for her to come out to play)

I have found a peace in painting. I never thought possible, in choosing colours that echo how I'm feeling that day, reflecting my mood and body.

Whilst painting I completely lose myself, but I've also found myself if that makes sense. I can't always paint (because of levels of pain and stiffness) so when I can then those times are very uplifting and precious for me. I have found something that gives me such joy and works with my, sometimes debilitating, health conditions. Anyone who has, or lives with someone who has, fibromyalgia knows what a harsh journey this can be, you have days when you feel 'ok' (ish) so you completely over do things, whatever your passion is, I find myself painting for far too long, there is a price to be paid but it is worth every ripple of paint on that canvas for the sheer joy and pleasure it brings me in creating my art.....

The paint is thrown on the canvas and finds its way (with a little help from me!) in a sense of waves and twirls, with cells and beautiful delicate lacing popping up here and there completely out of my control!

I enjoy doing my abstract pieces, I feel a freedom of creation, allowing my mind to just be free, the paint and colours take on a life of their own. Occasionally I feel the need to paint a peaceful scene from nature, particularly loving the beauty of reflections on still water. I find a serene beauty in trees, trees of every kind, even a dead tree with its twisted macabre branches and dancing trunk - so beautiful.

I hope you enjoy looking through my work and please let me know if any of the pieces speak to you and what they say. I have created commissions on request and I'm happy to go with a colour  scheme of your choosing, one you feel will enhance the colours in your own home.

If you have any questions at all please send them in the contact form and I will respond to you ASAP.

Finally thank you for visiting and have a beautiful and blessed day!
